Census Data Center
The Demography Program of the Graduate School of Public Health, in agreement
with the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the Puerto Rico Planning Board,
operates the Census Data Center. The Center's main objective is to disseminate
census and health data to the University community and the general public.
It has the largest census information collection on the island from 1910
to the present, and the Puerto Rico Vital Statistics Annual Report from
1960 to the present. Birth, death, and marriage survey tapes from the
Department of Health, as well as tapes on labor force surveys by the Department
of Labor are also available. Since its inception, the Center
has undertaken activities such as technical assistance in accessing and
using data for research, encouraging the integration of census data and
health statistics, publications, lectures, and workshops. The Center produces
the demographic information on Puerto Rican women's health published in
the W&H Center publications.
