Selected Campus Projects Relevant to Women's Health
Center for Information Related to Menopause
The Center for Information Related to Menopause, under the Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the School of Medicine, was funded by
Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceutical in 1995. Its goals are: 1) To convene an interdisciplinary
work group; with members from the Medical Sciences Campus and the community
in general interested in menopausal women; 2) To become a center of information
on perimenopause and climateric and to offer information about topics
relevant to health promotion and maintenance during perimenopause and
the third age. The Center participates in clinical research, offers educational
activities for health professionals and for the general public, sponsors
public announcements through different media and offers consultations
and information through a dedicated telephone line. The Center has organized
support groups for interested women in the community. The W&HC works
in close collaboration with this Center. Dr. Josefina Romaguera, Director
of the Center, will be the Assistant Director of the COE Clinical Unit.
