Clinical Research Center
The goals of the Clinical Research Infrastructure Initiative (RCRII)
Program at the Medical Sciences Campus are: 1) To provide self-supported
infrastructure for clinical research, including appropriate physical facilities,
as well as administrative and research support services; 2) To enhance
the research potential of current and new clinical research faculty and
to encourage collaborative research between clinical and basic investigators;
3) To target research programs or areas for development. The Clinical
Research Center is currently in its third year (1997-1998). Support services
are located in a facility adjacent to the University Hospital. The area
includes examination and infusion rooms, research nurse stations, administrative
offices, a core laboratory, and a biostatistics unit.
The Division of Clinical Research Faculty Development focuses on identifying
mechanisms for stimulating the participation of faculty and medical students
in clinical research through activities such as seminars, off-campus research
experiences, exchange with consultants and mentors, training programs,
and collaboration with basic scientists.
The Division of Clinical Research Development aids investigators in competing
successfully for external funding.
