Vision
An organization dedicated to the
promotion of excellence in women's health that stimulates the development
of up to date professional knowledge; facilitates the diffusion and
production of information, and serves as a forum for deliberation and
reflection with intellectual soundness and scientific integrity. It
is ethically committed with the special needs of women, acts as an
advocate for women's health and rights, and has an impact on public
policy. Recognized by its leadership in the development of new models
for the provision of integrated health services to women and by the
support and advice provided to multiple community sectors. The Women
& Health Center of the UPR Medical Sciences Campus collaborates
in establishing alliances with other initiatives and similar projects
within and outside Puerto Rico, contributes to the development of
awareness among health professionals, women, and the general community
about the health needs of women living in Puerto Rico, and contributes
toward the development of attitudes that promote women's assertiveness
and empowerment.
Mission
The Women & Health Center
of the UPR Medical Sciences Campus is an interdisciplinary Center
that integrates faculties and programs of the Medical Sciences Campus
committed with the integral well-being of women throughout their life
cycle. The Center offers information, orientation, and educational
services to the academic community and to the Puerto Rican community
in general. It promotes research studies of multi and interdisciplinary
nature and the development of integrated services sensitive to women's
needs. As a precursor of woman's health initiatives in the Medical
Sciences Campus, the Center promotes the inclusion of issues relevant
to women in the training of health professionals, stimulates the development of female leaders in the health sciences, and fosters collaboration
with similar organizations within and outside Puerto Rico.

of criteria in women

making for women
